‘You are a man?’ – The Wonder Woman film

One day late this week. Perhaps I should set myself an alarm to get these out on time!

Wonder Woman is a female superhero (THE female superhero in my opinion) in the DCEU. She is my main girl, and I have a massive canvas of her in my house. She’s my favourite character from DC Bombshells (check out my review of that for ‘International Women’s Day 2017’). Just a brief spoiler – I LOVED THIS MOVIE. DC has definitely stepped up their game after Batman VS Superman – Dawn of Justice.

This is one of my favourite movie photos. I love how it actually looks like a WW1 photo! – Wonder Woman, DC Films, 2017

Wonder Woman is set in World War 1, and after growing up in a secluded paradise, she is thrown into the midst of battle. She assumes, pretty correctly, that the story of the God of War, Ares has come back for his final battle -and Diana herself is the only one that can stop him from killing everyone.

I love Diana’s innocence in this film. As it’s her origin story, she is literally new to the whole world. As she has never seen anything other than Themyscira, the gorgeous land in which the Amazons live, she assumes that the whole of the world is exactly like the world she comes from. How wrong is she? (Spoilers – VERY!)

Steve Trevor and Wonder Woman / Diana Prince hiding in a bush! – Wonder Woman, DC Films, 2017

The team Diana ends up with couldn’t be a more rag-tag bunch. Sameer, Charlie (who you might remember as Spud from Trainspotting and T2) and Chif are all specialists in their own field. Not only is this important, it’s also important to consider that they’re very ethnically diverse. Sameer points out to Diana that he’s struggled to become an actor because he isn’t white, Chief explains that he has nothing because of Steve Trevor’s race. Even though these added important points, I didn’t feel as if the idea of racial segregation was being shoved down my throat; ignoring that the Germans were obviously doing exactly that.

In the end, Diana can’t stop Ares alone. Without Steve Trevor – hers (and my) one true love – she wouldn’t have made it out alive. I honestly think they’re the cutest relationship, much better than Lois and Clark. I hope beyond all hopes that they bring back Steve Trevor’s son or grandson (from the Lynda Carter led TV series – this is extremely wishful thinking).

Catch the trailer below!

So, Wonder Woman isn’t out here yet (we have to wait another week) so I’m avoiding spoilers like cray-zay, but I am still super curious to know what people thought of it. I was on that hype train, choo choo! Can’t wait to see Gal Gadot kick some serious but, and to see a DC movie that won’t disappoint me (sad as that is to say).

I?m impressed, I must say. Really rarely do I encounter a blog that?s both educative and entertaining, and let me tell you, you have hit the nail on the head. Your idea is outstanding; the issue is something that not enough people are speaking intelligently about. I am very happy that I stumbled across this in my search for something relating to this.
